Hi! Welcome to Peru Delights. This page is a loving tribute to the intoxicating flavors, colors and aromas of Peru. We started out as a mother and daughter team, both called Morena and both Peruvian (one by birth, one by choice). Like everyone else in our country, we are obsessed with food. Ever been to Peru? If you have, you will know this to be true: we can never stop talking about our varied, fresh, multi cultural food, and we love to share it with everyone who crosses our path.
Over the years, what started as a small project grew beyond our wildest expectations, and now, after many recipes, hundreds of blog posts, 3 published books, several ebooks, wonderful new friends, and many crazy/funny/interesting experiences that we will never forget, the shape of our blog looks a little different. Morena E (daughter) has moved on to her next big project (her business as a health & wellness coach), and Morena C (mom) has a new talented team mate: Antonella Delfino, her daughter in law. As you can see, we like to keep things in the family!
Other than our passion for cooking and for Peruvian food, one more thing all of us Peru Delights ladies have in common is that we all live or have lived abroad, and throughout the years have found lots of creative ways to keep preparing and eating Peruvian meals wherever we are, whether we can find authentic ingredients or not. So please don’t feel intimidated by names you can’t pronounce and produce you have never heard of, as we will give you easy to follow, step by step instructions for you to venture into our favorite dishes, no matter what part of the world you are in. In this blog you will find everything you need to know on this subject, from the basic ingredients and techniques we use, to the history behind each dish; from traditional to fusion, to healthy, to tons of improvised fun! So we hope you’re feeling adventurous in the kitchen and ready to discover all kinds of new and delicious flavors. Buen Provecho!

Born in El Salvador and raised in Nicaragua, I lived most of my adult life in Lima, Peru. I´m a traveler, a trained cook, a wine expert, and have directed a culinary school. I have been a book and magazine editor, and some years ago I published my own gourmet magazine. Cooking for me is more than a passion, it´s a lifestyle, and through the years my family and friends have been my favorite team of tasters for every new recipe I came upon.
I arrived in Peru when I was 17 years old, got married and had two wonderful kids, Eduardo and Morena. So even though I wasn’t born there, my heart is Peruvian and I’m deeply in love with its amazing history, the Andes, the Amazon jungle, its people and, of course, its outstanding and varied cuisine. Together with my daughter -the other half of this team- I’ll share with you not only traditional dishes, but fresh and amazing innovations on some of them, so you can discover along with us how easy and satisfying this food is, and make it a part of your culinary repertoire wherever you are. Provecho!
Ever since I left my home country, Peru, to embark on a gipsy adventure, and realized my life wouldn´t be catered for by a responsible adult anymore, I put on the apron and dove into a culinary odyssey of discovery and taste. I moved to England to study Philosophy, and realized early on that eating like a student was not for me. Being a lifelong vegetarian, I decided to play with some veggie recipes at hand. After a while, I was playing with non veggie ones too, making meatless and healthy versions of them all. It didn’t take much to transform me into one of those people who spend most of the day planning their next meal, and making the visits to the supermarket a trip to Disneyland. 10 years later, after living in NYC and Barcelona, studying literature, working in publishing, and starting my own cookie business, I´m a veteran recipe converter and proud health freak. My job in this blog is to share the food of my country with all the conscious eaters like me. I know Peruvian food can be tricky for us, oh yes I do! But after a decade of trial and error, you can be pretty sure you´ll get many cool ideas here and won’t have to miss out on anything.
I was born in Lima, Peru, but I live in Miami. I have a degree in Business Administration and Human Resources, which I used while working in the corporate world in Peru, but cooking has always been a big passion for me. So much so, that when I was fifteen years old I became an entrepreneur, and started a small business that sold desserts to a coffee shop in Lima. As a grown up with a real job, however, I didn’t have the time to cook anymore, so I only got to do it on the weekends.
Luckily, when I got married and my husband and I moved to the United States, this changed again: I began to cook every day and discovered new ingredients, new techniques, and a renewed love for the kitchen. Not only did I have the time to cook now, but I also found a new group of people with whom I could share my dishes: my husband –who is my super fan – and our new friends.
During our first year here, I decided that I needed a project to keep me busy, so I wrote a cookbook with the recipes that I had developed and perfected throughout our first months as a married couple. It was a fun project and an amazing experience for me. At the same time, I started to share my recipes with Peru Delights, which gave me the opportunity to improve my writing and photography skills.
