Buen Sabor – Latin American Flavors for Dinner

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post, but all the opinions are my own.

This year has been full of wonderful surprises. One of them is Buen Sabor and the flavorful frozen dishes that I have been enjoying since I started collaborating with them.

Last week I came home and didn´t feel like cooking. I had ripe plantain and cheese empanadas in the freezer, so I took them out to thaw , and fried them in a little bit of olive oil (you can bake them if you want). I have been familiar with the sweet plantain – cheese combo all my life, but the sharp Gorgonzola flavor in these empanadas is a very unique and clever idea. This was the perfect light dinner, combined with a green salad. If I wanted to have it for lunch, I would also add some refried beans to make it more filling.

Another dish from this brand that I liked a lot was the turkey and lentil pastelon, which I baked in the oven and then served it with some Peruvian salsa criolla on top, and with a nice green salad on the side. Every bite was full of flavor, and the saucy texture was very enjoyable as well.

In this blog I have repeated over and over again that I like cooking everything from scratch, because that’s the way we eat in Latin America. But  I also understand that sometimes convenience is the number one priority. I’m relieved that in the frozen section, there’s a good product like this one that uses all natural ingredientes, and that actually tastes like it’s homemade. I find these dishes to be perfect for weeknight dinners. If you’re a busy person, the only thing you will need to do is heat this food, and make a big salad on the side, and you will have a very nourishing meal on the table. Buen Sabor even gives serving suggestions for each dish, including a shopping list, so you can buy everything you need at once.

My favorite thing about Buen Sabor, is that their food goes beyond the ubiquitous tacos or burritos, which is what most people think of when they think of Latin food. Finally, someone is paying homage to ALL Latin American cooking, with dishes inspired by Mexican, South American and Caribbean flavors, with a fun and creative twist.
